The San Antonio Youth Wind Ensemble (SAYWE) at St. Philip's College provides an outstanding performance opportunity for talented young musicians, grade 7-age 20, in the SA area to explore, create and strive in a high caliber concert band setting.
The San Antonio Youth Wind Ensemble (SAYWE) program serves the community by providing performance opportunities to young wind and percussion instrumentalists from grade 7-age 20 from throughout Bexar County.
All members are required to participate in their school music programs. SAYWE is a part of the Division of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at St. Philips College, and it is designed to provide students the opportunity to delve further into the limitless realm of musical expression in a concert band setting. This program enhances the musical growth and personal development of the advanced student instrumentalist, and our goal is to provide the foundation for a life-long passion for the enjoyment of music in its multitude of genres. The SAYWE performs in the 600 seat State-of-the-Art Watson Fine Arts Center (WFAC) Theater on the main campus of St. Philips College in San Antonio, TX. The opportunities provided to students encompass a variety of elements:
• In-depth study of challenging Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony repertoire
• Workshops and master classes
